PKR’s Datuk Johari Abdul today demanded that “Datuk T” trio furnish evidence that he had asked them for RM1 million as payment to quit the party, maintaining that he is “completely” innocent of the “untrue” accusations.
The Sungai Petani MP also reiterated that he had told the trio that he was convinced that the man in the infamous sex video was not Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
A new video clip emerged on the Internet today to attack Johari’s credibility with suggestions he had asked “Datuk T”, comprising Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Malacca Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and Datuk Shuaib Abdul Lazim, for RM1 million.
The latest video is a recording of Johari (picture) watching the sex video in a hotel room, accompanied by the trio.
The 1.59-minute-long video, posted by pro-Umno blogger “Papagomo” today, carried a blog posting which quoted Shazryl as alleging that Johari was convinced that Anwar was the man in the sex clip, and that Johari had also asked for RM1 million for himself and RM1 million each for five other MPs who would “leave PKR” after viewing the video.
The posting also quoted Shazryl as saying that Johari had demanded RM100,000 in “advanced payment”, and that the PKR man had been paid half the amount. The latest video clip however contains no evidence to suggest he had asked for money.
“Prove it that I took money, which bank account was it? Was it in cash or cheque? I cannot keep such a huge amount at home.
“I have never received anything, nor have I offered to leave the party in return for payment. I do not need the money,” Johari told The Malaysian Insider.
The PKR MP stressed that he stood by what he said last week, saying that his self-made video “documentary” dissecting minute details had raised serious doubts about the sex video’s authenticity.
“They can say whatever they want. No one can testify to what I said in the (hotel) room that day… I don’t want to waste (my) time (with them),” explained Johari.
Titled “Johari Abdul admits the sex video actor is Anwar Ibrahim” (Johari Abdul akui bahawa pelaku dalam video seks ialah Anwar Ibrahim), the video highlights and replays a comment made by the PKR leader when watching the video.
The PKR MP is seen in this clip as being very friendly with the three men, laughing and joking with them several times during the sex video screening.
“Of course I am friendly to them, I know them personally. Shuaib is my uncle, Rahim was a former Umno supreme council member and Eskay is from Sungai Petani… I did not know that day that they were going to show a sex video before I watched the video myself.
“I have to respect my uncle even if I do not agree with what he did. If I see Shuaib again, I would kiss his hand, he is my elder,” explained the PKR man.
A magistrate’s court in Kuala Lumpur was told last week that US authorities had identified the man in the controversial sex video screened by “Datuk T” as Anwar.
The “Datuk” T trio were fined RM5,500 after pleading guilty to their involvement in the screening of the video on March 21.
